  1. Pick up a Velo-City bike and explore the City of Adelaide. There are many trails that you can follow to discover the delights of the city, such as the Park Lands Trail, River Torrens Linear Park Trail as well as the Adelaide City Bike Art Trail.
  2. Visit Adelaide’s pantry of the city, Adelaide Central Market and take in the sights, tastes and smells of this bustling inner-city market. To get the most out of your market visit take a tour to gain inside knowledge of the goings on and some exclusive tastings (booking is required).
  3. Play a round of golf at the picturesque North Adelaide Golf Course. Set in the northern Park Lands with sweeping views of the city, this public golf course has a championship style course for the experienced golfers and Par 3 option for those new to the game.
  4. Visit the Adelaide Zoo home to Wang Wang and Funi, the only Giant Pandas in the southern hemisphere. The zoo is home to over 1,800 animals and almost 300 species of exotic and native mammals, birds, reptiles and fish.
  5. Travel on the tram to the seaside suburb of Glenelg, only a 30 minute ride from the centre of the city. Here you can take a cruise to swim with dolphins with Temptation Sailing.
  6. Stroll along North Terrace, considered to be Adelaide’s ‘Cultural Boulevard’, housing many cultural institutions including the Art Gallery of SA, SA Museum, the State Library Mortlock Wing, Migration Museum, Parliament and Government House.
  7. Go on a journey from grape to bottle at the National Wine Centre of Australia. The Wine Discovery Journey is an interactive wine experience showcasing the importance of the industry to Australia and the enjoyment of drinking Australian wine.
  8. Experience the richness of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures at Tandanya – National Aboriginal Cultural Institute, Australia’s oldest Aboriginal-owned and managed multi-arts centre. Or explore over 3,000 artefacts, the largest collection in the Southern Hemisphere, at the Australian Aboriginal Cultures Gallery located in the SA Museum.
  9. Enjoy chocolate? Why not take a free tour of the Haigh’s Chocolate Factory, Australia’s oldest family-owned chocolate manufacturer (booking is required). Or visit the famous Beehive Corner, their flagship store in Rundle Mall that opened in 1922.
  10. Visit Light’s Vision, a lookout on Montefiore Hill in North Adelaide with views of the city and Park Lands. Here you will also find a statue of Colonel William Light, South Australia’s fist Surveyor General and Founder of Adelaide.

Adelaide is the ultimate in stress-free shopping. Rundle Mall has more than 700 boutiques and specialty shops set amongst elegant arcades, streets and laneways, or drop into Australia’s famous department stores, Myers and David Jones.

 

For something a little edgy and unique explore Rundle Street and Ebenezer Place. A must is Urban Cow Studio showcasing South Australian artists and designers.

For outlet shopping, head to Harbour Town – 15 minutes west of the city near the airport.

Most of Adelaide’s fantastic beaches are less than 30 minutes from the city centre and the Mediterranean climate means you can enjoy them practically all year round.

 

Catch the tram or cycle to Glenelg, one of Adelaide’s favourite beaches, and enjoy a picnic on the grass or a stroll on the jetty. The art deco suburb of Brighton Beach is right next door and nearby Henley Beach is a great place to soak up the atmosphere while eating your fish and chips.
